The Football New Brunswick (FNB) Nominating Committee is seeking expressions of interest from qualified, dedicated individuals to be nominated as volunteer Directors on the FNB Board. This is an opportunity to help shape the strategic direction and governance of Canadian Amateur Football across the province.

Eligibility Requirements (Mandatory)
Per FNB By-Law No. 1, all candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 19 years of age or older.
  • Have or have had association with an FNB member organization (Minor Association or League).
  • Must NOT be a current president or paid employee of an FNB member organization.
  • Must be able to commit the time required to attend a minimum of four (4) Board meetings per year, plus committee and preparation time.
    The Committee will also vet candidates against termination clauses, including those related to bankruptcy, criminal offences involving fraud, and negligence of duties.

Director Duties and Fiduciary Responsibility
Directors serve as volunteers and have a legal duty to administer the affairs of FNB. This includes:

  • Fiduciary Duty: Acting honestly, in good faith, and in the best interest of FNB at all times.
  • Compliance: Adhering to FNB’s by-laws and established policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Oversight: Establishing and overseeing the Executive (Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer) and ensuring the day-to-day operations are properly managed by the Operational Committee and staff.
  • Governance: Making policies, interpreting by-laws, and avoiding any actual or perceived conflict of-interest situation.

Current Skills and Experience Sought
The Nominating Committee aims to ensure the Board collectively possesses the necessary expertise to address FNB’s strategic goals. For the upcoming term, we are specifically seeking candidates with proven experience in the following areas (though all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply):
Priority Skill Area and Rationale / Focus
a. Corporate Fundraising /Sponsorship – Needed to develop strategies for securing external funding and expanding FNB’s revenue base beyond membership fees.
b. Marketing and Digital Strategy – Expertise in modern communication, membership engagement, and brand promotion of the sport.
c. Legal – Non profit governance, risk management, liability and contracts
d. Medical – Sports injuries and prevention, concussion man agreement, sport policies and protocols.

The Committee also highly values candidates who enhance the geographic, demographic, and gender diversity of the Board.

  2. Professional Resume/CV: Highlighting your experience in governance, leadership, and the priority skill areas listed.
  3. Proof of Affiliation: A brief statement confirming your current or past association with an FNB Minor Association, Team or League.
