About 2024 U16 Program

This program is unlike any other! It will be set up as a training camp model where players will be assessed for their on field play and personal character. Each athlete will have the opportunity to train and develop under highly experienced coaches from a wide variety of football programs, systems, and regions across New Brunswick. REGISTER TODAY and you will have full access to, a minimum Football Canada approved Combine & Testing, 12 hours of instructional player development, meetings, clothing and an opportunity to compete at the Football Canada Eastern Challenge at St FX University in Antigonish, NS or the Atlantic Bowl in Charlottetown, PE! Deadline to register is March 31, 2024.

Football New Brunswick and each High Performance Coaching Staff reserves the right to move players to different positions based on team needs for team success.

It is important to note that equal playing time is not guaranteed in High Performance programming.

Program Details

Equipment

All camps besides the combine will require gear including mouth guards. Players are to reach out to their minor associations or high school head coaches to receive football equipment.

Players residing outside the Capital Area

  • a player who played minor football in the previous Fall season must play minor football in the Spring to be eligible and receive equipment.
  • Players who live in surrounding areas such as; Sackville, St. Stephen, Sussex and Miramichi are not required to register for Spring football to attend U16 tryouts.
  • a player who played high school football in the previous Fall season is not required to play Spring football to be eligible.

Players residing within the Capital Area

  • a player from the Capital Area can either register for Spring Flag and receive their equipment or pay a rental fee of $150 at our registration checkout
  • a player who played high school football in the previous Fall season is not required to play flag or pay a rental fee and can obtain their equipment from their high school
PRovincial Team Fee Breakdown

The U16 program is structured to accommodate both parents and players by taking into consideration other sport schedules, registration costs and deadlines.

Planet Fitness Combine and Training Camp – $275 + applicable transaction fees (Due upon registering)
Fee includes: Football Canada Combine, 12 hours of on field instruction, classroom instruction, combine t-shirt and Football NB practice jersey.

Fundraising Opportunity
Players will be provided an opportunity to fundraise through our official fundraising partner Momentum Fundraising.

More details will be provided at a later date.

Top 80 Phase – $275 + applicable transaction fees (Due May 4)
Fee includes: 9 hours of on field instruction, classroom sessions and participation in the McDonalds Showcase Series (Intersquad).

Fundraising Opportunity
Players will be given raffle tickets to sell to help cover the registration fees.

McDonalds Showcase Series

The McDonalds Showcase Series is an intersquad game versus Team White and Team Maroon. Teams will be selected to create a competitive selection phase for the coaches to evaluate players. Games will be played at Mount Allison on May 19.

12 A Side vs 6 A Side Selection Process: Following the Football New Brunswick Showcase Game, 65 players will be selected to participate in the Top 65 Phase. Other players may be invited to participate in the Atlantic Bowl Selection process. Each process is outlined below.

12 A Side Selection

Top 65 Phase – $375 (Due by May 25)
Fee includes: Team NB clothing package, 7 hours of on field instruction, classroom sessions and participation in first Maritime Challenge game vs Nova Scotia at Mount Allison University on June 1.

Top 40 Phase – $1925 (Due June 14)
Fee includes: 19 hours of on field training, classroom sessions, final game against Nova Scotia in the Maritime Challenge and National recruitment exposure at the Eastern Challenge in Antigonish, NS July 16-21. (players travel, accommodations and meals are included)

6 A Side Selection

Atlantic Bowl Tryout Phase – $225 (Due May 26)
Fee Includes: 9 hours of on field instruction and classroom sessions.
Note: players from the Top 65 phase who do not make it to the top 45 phase of the 12 a side selection may be added to the roster.

Top 22 Phase – $1300 (Due July 16)
Fee includes: Participation in an exhibition jamboree against PEI on June 23rd, remaining practices in New Brunswick and participation in the Atlantic Bowl in Charlottetown, PEI July 8-14. (players travel, accommodations and meals are included in the fee)

Fundraising Opportunity
No final payments will be due until the fundraisers are complete. Final amount owing will then be communicated.

Media Guide – All players participating in the 12 and 6 a side selection phases may utilize the Media Guide fundraiser. Players go to local businesses and ask for support. All advertising they get goes directly off their provincial team fees!
The Football NB Media Guide is not only a great way to make back over $500, but also creates exposure for Team NB and the players involved.

The Planet Fitness Combine

The Combine will involve several standardized tests that have been established by Football Canada. The U18 Coaching staff will use these results as an evaluation tool and the results will also be shared on our website.
The Combine Tests include the following:

  • Height and Weight Measurements
  • Standing Broad Jump – athletes are given 2 attempts to achieve their best distance.
  • Vertical Jump – athletes are given 2 attempts to achieve their best height.
  • Standing Reach
  • 40 Yard Dash – athletes are given 2 attempts to achieve their best time.
  • Pro Agility Drill – athletes are given 2 attempts to achieve their best time.
  • Bench Press – Options of 225 lbs, 185 lbs, 135 lbs, or 95lbs. Athletes will be given 2 attempt to get as many reps as possible. They will be given a brief period to warm up. Weight is scored higher then the number of reps achieved.
