Colangelo to Lead NB U18’s at Canada Cup

Football New Brunswick (FNB) is excited to announce Zak Colangelo as their new U18 Boys Head Coach. Currently the Defensive Coordinator and Recruitment Coordinator at Mount Allison University, Colangelo will bring his USport coaching experiences to our top U18 male athletes.

Coming off a Loney Bowl appearance with the Mounties, Colangelo can’t wait to get started, “I am very excited to work with the top football players in the province and compete at the national level”. Jon Wilkinson, Director of Football Operations is looking forward to seeing how Colangelo’s knowledge will impact both players and coaches in our program, “I am thrilled to have Zak as our U18 Head Coach. Zak brings with him an incredibly vast amount of football knowledge and years of USport coaching experience. I look forward to watching Zak grow our program and share his knowledge with our players and coaches”.

A side from his time at Mount Allison, Colangelo’s past coaching experiences include coaching in the 2022 USports East West Bowl (Defensive Coordinator), Team Canada at the International Bowl in 2020 (Linebackers), coaching Team NB U18 in 2019 (Defensive Coordinator) as well as Team Ontario in 2017 and York University (2014-17).

The U18 Boys team will play in the Football Canada Cup in Edmonton, AB this July. “Through our discussions with Zak it became apparent that we shared the same long term vision for the growth of our high performance programs. We want to create a development stream from U14 up to U18 where athletes can build their fundamentals year over year together to ensure we set our teams up for success on the national stage.” Says Josh Harris, Executive Director, Football New Brunswick.

U18 player registrations will be open in January and tryouts are set to begin in April. We will be opening the application process for coordinators and position coaches to join our U18 staff in the coming weeks!
