Football New Brunswick is proud to announce the hiring of Westley Johnston as the new Director of Programs and Events.
In this role, Johnston will organize and execute FNB programs and events including responsibilities such as overseeing the operational delivery of high-performance pathways, off season development programs, and interlock league oversight.
“I am excited about the opportunity to be part of a sport that continues to grow across New Brunswick.” Johnston said. “I’m looking forward to working alongside coaches, volunteers, and community partners to support our provincial team programs and create positive experiences for athletes. I’m also eager to help bring exciting events to the province that celebrate the sport, encourage participation, and strengthen the football community. Most of all, I hope to contribute to the continued growth of football in New Brunswick while learning from the dedicated people involved in the game.”
Johnston brings firsthand experience in high-performance sport as a Team NB Wheelchair Basketball Head Coach, a Program Coordinator for Sport NB, and a former professional athlete who represented the Canadian National Development Team.
“My passion for sport comes from the impact it can have on people’s lives.” He added. “Some of my favourite memories and most valuable lessons came through sports, and I know how important quality programs and events can be in shaping an athlete’s journey. Being part of creating those experiences for others is something I find incredibly rewarding. As Director of Programs and Events, I’m excited to help support the growth of football in New Brunswick, connect with communities across the province, and create opportunities that athletes and participants will remember long after the season ends.”
Wesley will begin the role on September 8 in place of Nick Murray, who is moving on to pursue a career in teaching.
We would like to thank Nick for his years of dedication to Football New Brunswick. His contributions to the growth of football in New Brunswick, particularly in expanding flag football programs and the establishment of football in the Western Valley, have left a lasting impact.
