The Under 18 Women’s National Championship is a 6-a-side tackle football Championship that is played on an annual basis. The event includes provincial teams from across the country fielding the top women and girl athletes at the U18 tackle football level. Football Canada hosted its first Women’s (adult) National Tackle event in 2012 and has been participating in the World Championship since its initial year in 2010. Since the start of these two events the country has seen a significant increase in female participation within tackle football. The U18 Women’s Nationals had its inaugural event in July 2022 in Regina, SK where New Brunswick captured a Bronze medal!

The U18 women’s provincial team is both a development opportunity and high performance. All eligible girls are welcome to come out! Each year Football NB goes through an extensive search for athletes who could make an impact on our team.

Athletes invited participated in the Varsity Girls League or played on other minor football teams. We also welcome girls who do not have playing experience but are interested in playing competitive football. We are the only province in the Maritimes participating in the National championship, girls from PEI and Nova Scotia are also welcome to tryout if interested. Players must be 15, 16 or 17 on or before December 31st of the tournament calendar year.
